Jenner ~ A6H ~ artist's print cover ~ recycled cartridge paper
Handbound journal or album ~ A6 horizontal ~ thick cartridge recycled paper includes First Class UK postage
As can be seen the front cover is a print made from an original watercolour by Cornish artist Shari Hills. It depicts a wren sitting in the shrubbery amongst the maze of cobwebs that is typical of Cornish gardens in the autumn. The back cover is of a similar scene ~ but without the resident wren, who is only ever seen by the photographer once or twice a year.
The book consists of four sections ~ each of four folios ~ giving 64 sides of all-media ~ 140gsm ~ cartridge paper. The binding permits layflat use, and even full foldback if required. The construction is of an open-back ~ no glue ~ type. This has the advantage of being easy for anyone to make and with a little patient needlework extra pages can be added at any time. (Ideal for recording those special events that require loads of illustration.) The fore-edges have not been trimmed ~ some people might regard it as lack of finesse. One of the design requirements was to make a no-knife and no-glue style of book.
The style of binding and decoration ~ and size ~ and extent ~ can be produced in different ways with ease. We would call such variants Jenner Style books, rather than the Jenner Book described above. The name Jenner is being used as a label in recognition of the discoverer of smallpox vaccine ~ Sir Edward Jenner. There is no significance beyond that of the name identifies the book that will be sent to you.
I have used several terms above that may be unfamiliar to some readers ~ there is a much fuller description ~ of everything ~ available at our sister site busybusydotco. The price includes First Class postage. If you are making other purchases from this store in the same session ~ or require sending abroad ~ you may need to adjust carriage charges accordingly.
